The short version
- Unscripted collects no personal data. There’s no account, no sign-in and no server that holds anything about you.
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking. Nothing is sold or shared, because nothing is collected.
- Your recordings, notes, scores and settings stay in the app’s private storage on your phone.
- The only time the app goes online is to ask the App Store about the full course.
- Delete the app, and everything it kept on your phone goes with it.
Your voice recordings
- Unscripted records only when you tap the microphone, and stops when you tap stop.
- A take is kept only if you tap Keep this take. It’s saved as an audio file in the app’s own folder on your phone.
- While you record, the app reads how loud your voice is, to draw the level meter and the waveform and to measure your talking time and pauses. That’s worked out on the phone from loudness alone. The app doesn’t turn your speech into text, and doesn’t listen for words.
- Recordings are never uploaded. Other apps can’t open them. A recording leaves the phone only if you share it yourself.
- To delete one recording, go to Progress, then Recordings, and tap the bin beside it. To delete them all, delete the app.
What else the app keeps, and where
To remember where you are in the course, Unscripted saves a small file in its own private storage on your phone. It holds:
- the days, drills and missions you’ve finished, and your quiz answers and scores;
- the notes and reflections you type, and your Speaker Scorecard numbers;
- the practice numbers you log, and your Courage Ladder steps;
- the name you add for your certificate;
- your settings (reminder time, haptics, the bell);
- whether the full course is unlocked.
It isn’t uploaded anywhere. If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or to a computer, that backup can include it, as it does for any app; Apple’s backup settings and privacy policy cover that.
The certificate
- Your Day 30 certificate is made on the phone, from your name, your dates and your scorecard numbers.
- It’s saved or sent only when you choose to, through your phone’s share sheet.
What goes over the internet
- The app itself sends nothing about you.
- Its one connection is to the App Store, made through Apple’s own purchase system. It’s used to show the full course’s price, to buy it, to check whether you already own it (after a reinstall, or when you tap Restore), and to redeem an offer code.
- Apple handles that connection under its own privacy policy.
Permissions
- Microphone: to record your practice drills so you can hear yourself back. Unscripted asks the first time you open the recorder. If you say no, everything except recording still works. You can change it any time in your phone’s Settings.
- Notifications: only if you choose a reminder time in More, plus, on some days, one ‘never miss twice’ note.
- The reminder is scheduled on the phone itself: one a day at the time you picked, plus one “never miss twice” note if a day is left waiting.
- No server sends them. Turn them off in More or in your phone’s Settings.
- The taps you feel come from your phone’s built-in haptics and need no permission. You can switch them off in More.
Payments
- If you buy the full course, the payment is handled entirely by the App Store.
- Unscripted never sees your card or your Apple Account details. It’s only told whether the full course is yours, so it can open Days 8 to 30 and the toolkit.
- Apple’s privacy policy covers the payment.
Children
Unscripted collects no personal information from anyone, so it collects none from children either.
Deleting your information
- Delete the app to remove everything it kept on your phone, recordings included.
- Unscripted keeps nothing on servers, so there’s nothing else to ask us to delete.
- If you bought the full course, Apple keeps the record of the purchase, so you can restore it later.
Changes to this policy
If Unscripted ever starts handling information differently, this page will be updated first, with a new date below. (For example, a future version may count filler words. If it does, the speech-to-text will run on the phone only, and this page will say so before that version ships.)
